I did
New Poems From Australia

Only one of us came
to shun the party of guests
at our wedding

reeking of someone else’s simplicity -
a royal chasm clean-sweeping
the night

veracity was lost
in the lopsided remedy     (suggesting pathos
is a kind of religion)

for wrong-doers.
We lied.                 Well I did…
                                                               Currents
            mouse poop-a-like in cracks

                                                            move
malefactions surround

a sadness
for what could have been
                                         sincerity

a wimbled foot bored deep under the wicker
                                  reception

pre-nup built
                     to resemble

              screamed

words
you said could never be us
