Prelude No.8
New Poems From the USA
Molto agitato fis-Moll

open her wrists      held bird wings uncontrolled
                    fanning above in-
              vention      what cataclysms might
                                                                  end

in lawed form       Form monstrous the instrument turned
                    uncomfortable
             duplicitous pressed      slouches he to
                                                                        read

          this the revolution etude     Below
                    his window extends
the thorn apple that bears poison
                                                                red

this spectral dust     arching a spine capsized
                    by which     a blood eye
vireo has its sleeve caught     feed
                                                                     stock

for the random newborn vole     Slow reward
          extinction
